Introduction
To manage the day-to-day running of the beneficiary communications programme and the beneficiary communications team. This will include planning and delivering campaigns using radio, SMS, sound truck, the Red Cross phone line, Noula questions and complaints line, leafets, posters and notice boards. The role will require close working with the Haitian Red Cross communications department, and operational teams of the Haitian Red Cross, IFRC and other Red Cross partners.
The aim of the beneficiary communications programme is to :
• Provide people in Haiti with information about RCRC programmes and activities
• Provide people in Haiti with useful and potentially life-saving information about for example, health, shelter and disaster preparedness
• Provide people in Haiti with an opportunity to share their concerns and needs with the RCRC and feedback on RCRC programmes
• Support RCRC programmes to consult with communities about their projects and so increase the effectiveness, quality and acceptability of their activites
• Keep communication open between communities and the RCRC by keeping them informed of and involved in recovery activities
Fonctions
• Coordinate the activities of the beneficiary communications team to deliver communication campaigns that include SMS, radio, Interactive Voice Response, posters, leaflets and sound truck with a focus on providing people with practical, useful information in the key areas of health and disaster preparedness
• Work closely with the Haitian Red Cross communications team when planning campaigns, ensuring they are involved in the planning process and kept informed of schedules
• Line management responsibility for National Staff members of the beneficiary communications team, including management of daily activities, setting monthly workplans and targets and organising monthly reports
• Plan and deliver training courses and mentoring opportunities to HRC staff and volunteers in the key areas of radio, SMS, IVR and sound truck with a view to these tools being managed by HRC from 2012
• Support the transition of all beneficiary communications activities to Haitian Red Cross management by the end of 2012
• Actively find ways for the Haitian Red Cross health and disaster management teams to use beneficiary communications to reach their audiences and increase the reach of their activities
• Find ways to increase the level of two-way communications between the Red Cross and its beneficiaries
• Support the beneficiary communication needs of the Integrated Neighbourhood Approach projects, including providing and managing posters, leaflets, sound truck and Noula questions and complaints line
• Attend internal and external meetings as required presenting the beneficiary communications programme and providing advice
• Other duties as directed by the Beneficiary Communications Delegate
Qualifications Requises
Qualification in Media or Communications
Experience working in community media and communications
Experience of managing a team
Experience of giving presentations and providing training
Experience of working with radio, SMS & phone technology or print
Experience working with the Red Cross or other NGO
