Introduction

J/P HRO is a non-profit organization dedicated to help lift the nation of Haiti out of the rubble and give the Haitian people a better life, is seeking experienced professionals for several exciting opportunities as part of its response to the 2010 Haiti earthquake.
The successful candidate will be a certified translator with at least 3 years’ experience in the field and particularly in Haiti. French, English and Creole proficiency is required.


Fonctions

He or she will have among others duties to accomplish these tasks:
• reading through original material and rewriting it in the target language (French or English), ensuring that the meaning of the source text is retained;
• translating different types of material, such as news, contracts, technical reports, financial reports, memo of understanding,
• using specialist dictionaries, thesauruses and reference books to find the closest equivalents for terminology and words used;
• using appropriate software for presentation and delivery;
• researching legal, technical and scientific phraseology to find the correct translation;
• liaising with concerned departments to discuss any unclear points;
• proofreading and editing final translated versions;
• providing concerned departments with a grammatically correct, well-expressed final version of the translated text, usually as a word-processed document;
• prioritizing work to meet deadlines;
• Any other tasks related to the position.


Qualifications Requises

- 3 years' experience in translating
- Being able to use MS Office suite, internet
- Flexibility
