Introduction

The NOC Engineer is responsible for maintaining the efficient operation and health of the Digicel cellular network 24 hours a day, 7 days per week, by acknowledging and investigating all faults which occur on the network and its services.
The NOC engineer is the first point of contact in relation to the support and coordination of:
• Switching,
• Transmission ,
• value Added Network nodes,
• Customer Care,
• Field Engineers,
• Radio Frequency Engineers and
• (external) Contractors.

The NOC Engineer owns, maintains & manipulates trouble tickets in relation to the core-, access-, and radio-network and services (all network elements), coordinates planned works (PW), and follows up customer service requests (CSR’s) as internally established and agreed.


Fonctions

• The NOC Engineer is typically assigned to work with resource surveillance and assurance of front office activities in network operations.
• The primary task is to take full responsibility for resource alarm monitoring and alarm management for all network resources within the scope of work delegated by work area responsible NOC Manager
• Fault remedy requiring on site presence is dispatched to the field maintenance organizations
• The surveillance function is a 24 hours a day operation and shift work is therefore applied and required.
• Trouble Ticket Handling
• Work Order/CSR Handling
• Report Handling (e.g. Disturbance Report, Emergency Report)
• Monitor Network and Threshold Alarms
• Analyse and Classify Alarms
• 1st Level Restoration
• Handle Customer Problem
• Perform Maintenance Routines
• Analyse Maintenance Routines Result
• Report Handling

The Front Office Engineer may be assigned specific product focus area.
However, the function responsibility is not limited to the specific product but to the whole of network elements.

General Competence

Technical Competence
• Good knowledge of network resource topology and capabilities for Core, Access, Radio and Service networks.
• Good knowledge of network availability alarm / status indicators and their interpretation and use.
• Adequate support system knowledge and be able to use required applications after proper set-up, with use of documentation without further assistance
• Basic knowledge of network implementation / integration processes.
• Basic knowledge of UNIX based systems
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.


Qualifications Requises

Degree within Electrical Engineering/ Telecommunication Engineering/Computer Engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in Operation & Maintenance implementation integration/operation/support or testing environment.
• OSS (Operational Support Systems) & BSS (Business Support Systems) experience is considered an excellent asset
