DRR TRAINERS
POSITION BASED AT PORT-AU-PRINCE
TEMPORARY CONTRACT

Job Summary:

The DRR Schools and Community Trainers will facilitate and monitor the DRR programs in schools and in three Communities. He will be responsible to train the teachers, the students and the members of the Community in the DRR Field and will assist the teachers in implementing the DRR program in their school; he will monitor, evaluate and report on the activities of DRR. The Trainers will be working in the development of emergency plans, the early warning systems and the hazard map.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Train teachers and principals in DRR (Disaster Risk Reduction).
• Train members of beneficiary communities in DRR.
• Assist the project coordinator in the implemented plans.
• Work with teachers in the replication of training in the classroom.
• Conduct a SWOT matrix (Strength, Weakness, Opportunities and Threats) of each school and community involved in the project
• Assist the project coordinator in the implemented SERTs (School emergency response team ) BRIACs (Brigade Anti Cholera).
• Work towards risk maps and early warning systems in conjunction with the project coordinator the DPC (Direction de la protection civil), members of the community, students, teachers and principals.

Qualifications and Experience

• Degree in social science/ education Science/Environmental Science, First-aid worker, hygiene promotion Community mobilizer or other disciplines related
• Minimum 5 years experience.
• Strong computer skills, Microsoft Word ,Excel and PowerPoint,
• Fluency in written and spoken English and, preferably French/Haitian Creole.
• Literate in computer MS Words and Excel.
• Excellent Communication skills
• Commitment to and understanding of Save the Children’s aims, values and principles.
