Introduction
The Haiti Apparel Center was founded by the USAID to teach industrial training in sewing, inspection, mechanical, design, pattern making and merchandising in Port au Prince to encourage the regeneration of the Haiti apparel sector. From October, it will be under the supervision of Haitian stakeholders and be a Haitian NGO.
Fonctions
-Reasonable spoken and written English with Spanish desirable
-Some teaching experience is preferred
Qualifications Requises
1-Pattern making
At least 5 years experience in pattern making or if in cutting – 7 years
Familiarity with either Gerber or Lectra systems
Good knowledge of fabrics – especially knits
Able to work out fabric consumption manually
Very comfortable with all common Microsoft applications
2-CAD
Previous design work as fashion designer and able to sketch
Or degree in fashion design
Or previous work with CAD for apparel
Knowledge of fabrics – especially knits
Familiarity with printing technology
Familiarity with different sewing stitches
Cutting / pattern making experience also useful
Able to build up range from concept or simple spec
3-Merchandising
5 years merchandising experience for buyer or 7 years as factory merchandiser doing full package
Knowledge of fabrics – especially knits
Good contacts with trim suppliers locally and fabric supplies regionally
Able to work out fabric consumption manually
Familiarity with USA market / other markets useful
Good contacts with Haitian sewing factories
Aware of different quality standards
Familiarity with GSD
Previous social compliance experience
Understanding of documentary credit and shipping terms
