The Haiti Apparel Center was founded by the USAID to teach industrial training in sewing, inspection, mechanical, design, pattern making and merchandising in Port au Prince to encourage the regeneration of the Haiti apparel sector. From October, it will be under the supervision of Haitian stakeholders and be a Haitian NGO.
Fonctions
The successful candidate must be a person of Haitian origin or with an extended stay and right of residency within Haiti. For this high-profile flagship role, the candidate must combine both real industry experience with relevant educational excellence. Also s/he should have strong commercial awareness to transition the center to self-sustainability.
Qualifications Requises
Essential qualifications
1. First degree from a ranking university
2. Fluent written and spoken English and French
3. At least 10 years commercial experience at an executive level in one of the following: buying, factory management, industrial engineering, merchandising, or design
4. At least 4 years educational experience in a relevant area or delivering programs to the sector
5. Able to mentor and evaluate trainers and set performance indicators
6. Strong commercial awareness in seeking commercial sustainability of the center
7. Able to manage both in-house training and deliver external courses
8. Develop and implement new courses at all points of the apparel supply chain
9. Previous work experience within Haiti
Desirable qualifications
1. Able to speak and write Haitian creole
2. MBA or equivalent with an understanding of financial statements
3. Familiarity with USAID reporting formats and systems
4. Familiarity with other national donors
5. Master’s or PHD degree in a relevant area
6. Familiarity with other training centers especially in the region
