Working under the direct supervision of the Site Planning management and in close coordination with the Site Planning team, other relevant IOM departments and external partners, the incumbent will be responsible and accountable for the following activities:

General Functions
In particular, he/she will:
1.Monitor engineering activities in both demolition/rubble removal projects, neighborhood reconstruction and in the development of new relocation settlements for IDPs and ensure the specifications provided by IOM are followed.
2.Closely monitor, and coordinate the works of implementing partners and contractors, including tracking of progress and conduct quality assurance tests.
3.Provide assistant for the necessary environmental, hazard, health and safety assessments prior to both reconstruction activities and in the planning of new relocation settlements.
4.Assist in the design of retaining walls, shoring, drainage, pathways and other infrastructure.
5.In coordination with the Program Manager, carry out engineering and site planning work, designing and preparing BoQs as needed in the field for any demolition and reconstruction activity.
6.Submit weekly progress report to the Project Manager and Project Coordinator. Represent daily/weekly progress review meetings for the work sites entrusted.
7.Perform other duties as may be assigned by the Project Manager and Project Coordinator.
Qualifications Requises
a)Secondary education in Civil Engineering; b)knowledge and training in demolition engineering concepts and field construction methodology; or equivalent combination of Education, Training & Experience; c)at least of 3 years experience in the construction field; d)good knowledge of IT and excellent skills in AutoCAD software. GIS knowledge would be an asset; e)ability to work with minimal supervision; f)good communication skills; g)strategic and creative thinking; h)personal commitments, efficiency, flexibility, drive for results; i)good analytical skills; j)ability to work effectively and harmoniously within a team of colleagues from varied cultures and professional backgrounds.
Languages
Excellent knowledge of English, French and Creole. Fluency in all three languages would be an asset.
