Introduction

Haiti is still recovering from the massive earthquake that struck in January 2010. In this role, created specifically to manage our contribution to the recovery process, you’ll marshal all your emergency recovery and development experience to lead our appeal programme.

About the role
We need an outstanding leader to make sure every penny of the resources raised to support Haitians is spent effectively. Reporting into the Country Manager, you’ll head up a team, manage, develop and co-ordinate our humanitarian response. You’ll work with donors, partners and other Christian Aid staff, collaborate with a wide range of aid agencies and ensure out work meets international standards. It’ll be down to you to establish coherent rehabilitation and reconstruction programmes, including disaster risk reduction initiatives, through implementing our policies and practices and building strong relationships.


Qualifications Requises

About you
Substantial experience of managing emergency relief programmes is essential. It’s a background that means you understand internationally agreed humanitarian policies and practice, capacity building tools and techniques, can plan and prioritise with confidence and know how to build strong teams. You’ll be resilient, resourceful, decisive and committed to supporting local initiatives. Spoken and written French and English is an essential requirement for this post and spoken Creole is desirable.

Effectiveness and Accountability
Describe how you have shown effectiveness and accountability, underpinned by international standards, to all stakeholders in a humanitarian response including donors and local communities.
• Outline the standards you followed and why they were appropriate
• How did you measure the accountability to the different stakeholders
• How did you work with both donors and local communities to determine and deliver programme goals

People Leadership and Management
Describe a time when you have developed a highly motivated staff team which has been able to deliver working with a cross section of stakeholders including donors and the affected community.

Salary: USD 45,647 to USD 51,486pa
Location: Based in Port au Prince, Haiti.
