The Safety and Electrical Specialist plays a dual role, combining expertise in workplace safety with a strong technical background in electrical systems. This individual will be instrumental in identifying and resolving electrical issues, overseeing contractors, and ensuring compliance with safety protocols on refurbishment projects. Working closely with the lead engineer and project managers, the Specialist will also contribute to project planning, including the preparation of Bills of Quantities (BOQs) for electrical works.
Fonctions
1. Electrical Systems Oversight:
• Conduct assessments to identify problems in existing electrical systems within refurbishment projects.
• Provide technical oversight for electrical contractors, ensuring work meets project specifications, safety standards, and local codes.
• Evaluate contractor work for quality and compliance with industry standards.
• Prepare accurate and detailed BOQs for electrical works, including material specifications, labor, and cost estimates.
2. Develop and Implement Safety Programs:
• Create and enforce safety policies and procedures, incorporating industry best practices and local regulatory requirements.
• Conduct risk assessments, particularly focusing on electrical hazards, and implement mitigation strategies.
• Ensure alignment with international safety standards (e.g., OSHA, NFPA) and local safety regulations.
3. Site Inspections and Monitoring:
• Perform regular inspections of refurbishment project sites to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety protocols.
• Inspect electrical installations and systems to ensure adherence to safety and operational standards.
• Maintain detailed records of inspections, findings, and corrective actions.
4. Training and Awareness:
• Provide training sessions to employees and contractors on safety protocols, with an emphasis on electrical safety and hazard identification.
• Prepare educational materials to enhance awareness of safe electrical work practices and PPE use.
5. Investigate Incidents and Root Causes:
• Lead investigations into workplace incidents involving electrical systems or general site safety issues.
• Develop corrective actions and implement preventive measures to mitigate risks.
• Document findings and communicate them to project stakeholders.
6. Promote a Culture of Safety and Compliance:
• Organize regular toolbox talks, safety campaigns, and awareness programs focusing on electrical safety and general workplace safety.
• Engage employees and contractors to maintain a proactive approach to hazard identification and risk management.
Qualifications Requises
• Strong background in electrical systems, including installation, maintenance, and refurbishment.
• Experience in overseeing electrical works and managing contractors on construction or refurbishment projects.
• Knowledge of local and international safety standards and electrical codes (e.g., OSHA, NFPA, NEC).
• Certification in occupational health and safety (preferred).
• Ability to prepare and evaluate Bills of Quantities (BOQs) for electrical works.
• Strong analytical skills for problem identification and resolution.
• Fluency in [relevant local languages, French and/or Creole], with proficiency in English.
