The position of Communications and Events Lead reports directly to the COP. The role of a
Communications and Events Lead involves developing, implementing, and managing internal
and external communication strategies aligned with Papyrus’ values to deliver on the firm’s
objectives to promote the organization's image and messages. The individual is responsible for
drafting and distributing content, managing media relations, organizing events, and
coordinating digital communications. They work closely with other departments to ensure
consistent and effective communication, thereby enhancing the organization's visibility and
reputation.
The Communications and Events Lead represents Papyrus and project teams, actively
embracing and living up to Papyrus’ principles and values in all interactions and
communications.
This position is full-time and based in Haiti and expected to travel regularly to in the different
cities of Haiti.

Fonctions
• Lead the engagement of project staff, partners, and beneficiaries to understand and
meet the project’s communication needs
• 5-year proven experience in a similar position
• Research, develop and implement in close consultation with the prime partner a
comprehensive strategic communications plan for USAID approval, outlining foreseen
external engagement and communications using traditional and social media. Develop
and disseminate content for specific events, activities, and grantees outlined in the plan
approved by USAID
• Lead prime partner’s response to USAID requests for media content, messages, success
stories, photos, to be approved by the COP
• Develop marketing materials for publication on project website and all social media
• Perform communications research and monitor progress of communications tools, with
particular attention to security concerns and maintaining an appropriate prime partner’s
profile
• Assure all communications comply with the USAID Branding and Marking policy approved by USAID for prime partner including approved waivers and exemptions
• Coordinate closely with prime partner, USAID, US Embassy, and Government of Haiti as
appropriate public events planning, contribute ideas for the visibility of the program
and its achievements; ensure appropriate documentation
• Communicate with media outlets and journalists, create press and media pitches,
develop press releases and press kits
• Liaise with USAID/Haiti Communications Director, upon senior management request
• Establish and implement internal communication systems for the project
• Support the team with content development and editing for the quarterly and annual
project reports
• Lead graphic design consultants to ensure high quality and timely delivery
• Produce short informational videos and content to promote ideas and behaviors; work
with celebrity or other spokespersons to convey messages
• Train project teams to produce content for social media and project use outlined in the
prime partner’s communications plan
• Support Training Content Coordinator in the organization of training, workshops and
other capacity strengthening events
• Travel to project field sites frequently as required.
Qualifications Requises
• Bachelor's degree in communications, media, digital design, or related field
• Minimum of ten years of professional experience required
• Embraces Papyrus’ values as stated above
• Fluency in French, English and Haitian Creole
• Excellent writing skills in English and French; experience with institutional writing a
plus
• Good understanding of the Haiti context and strong networking skills
• Deep understanding of Haitian culture, customs and social dynamics
• Able to create persuasive communications using different media tools such as
websites,
• video, audio, and text
• Previous experience with USAID-funded projects is an asset.
Conditions de travail
From 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday to Friday, and sometimes on Saturday to address special circumstances.
