PROJECT SUMMARY
PADF is implementing the Projet Paysages Resilients (PPR-Sud) funded by the United States Agency for International Development. PPR-Sud supports watershed and landscape governance interventions through rehabilitation of sub-watersheds and reinforcement of community-led natural resource management. Its intervention areas are the sub-watersheds of the Ravine du Sud, Rivière de l’Acul and Rivière de Torbeck of the Les Cayes Basin. As such, PADF is soliciting applications from experienced candidates for the position of Senior Agroforestry Technical Manager. The position is based in the South.
PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
The holder of this position will be responsible for the overall coordination and implementation of watershed management strategies working closely with the Deputy Chief od Party (DCOP). The focus will be on ensuring overall implementation and supervision of the watershed management activities and related agroforestry initiatives in coordination with the project Partners. Key areas of focus will include landscape management, reforestation, agroforestry, integrated watershed management including soil and water conservation, and ravine stabilization.
Fonctions
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
• Assist in the planning and execution of the diagnostic assessment
• Contribute to the PPR-Sud strategic objectives of rehabilitating critical sub-watersheds and strengthening community-led natural resource management.
• Provide coordination and ensure the implementation and supervision of all related-watershed management activities in coordination with the project partners.
• Coordinate with the Senior Agronomist all technical and logistical operations during the implementation of the PPR-Sud components.
• In coordination with the partners, oversee all agroforestry and watershed management activities through regular field visits and staff meeting to ensure timely and effective implementation of the activities and program progress.
• In collaboration with the M&E Unit, monitor on a regular basis progress towards achievement of the project strategic objectives.
• Facilitate working collaboration with all relevant partners including the Ministry of Agriculture and the Ministry of Environment.
• Coordinate all related watershed management activities with the Sub-Watersheds Management Committees (SWMC)
• Ensure that all watershed management activities are implemented according to best practices and technically sound.
• Assist in identifying appropriate assistance to the PPR-Sud activities in areas of marketing, training, appropriate farming practices.
• Help monitor and supervise all activities conducted by PADF’s partners under the PPR-Sud program.
• Maintain close communication with the field staff and ensure an effective flow of information between the field staff and project office to address constraints on time
• Assist in improving technical skills and capacity building of field staff through seminars and workshops on specific themes
• Plan and coordinate with the partners the production of tree seedlings and ensure quality and maintenance of tree seedlings nurseries
• Contribute to build the capacity of the SWMC
• Coordinate and assist in any baseline, mid-term, and final evaluations and in special studies
• Perform other duties as required
Qualifications Requises
• Hold a university degree in agroforestry, agronomy, agro-economy, soil science or related field with a minimum of ten years of professional experience. A master’s degree in one of the mentioned fields is preferred.
• Have proven experience in planning, coordination, and supervision of staff.
• Have basic knowledge in adaptive agroforestry research and statistical data analysis and experience in writing technical report.
• Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, are required.
• Good computer and Internet skills are highly desired.
• Knowledge of donor procedures especially USAID
