Introduction

This position is a full-time, limited-term position associated with the USAID-Haitian Mission support project: The Haiti Agricultural University Partnership (HAUP): Center for Mitigation, Adaptation, and Resilience to Climate-Change in Haiti (CEMARCH). With leadership provided by Kansas State University, the university partners with 6 Haitian agricultural universities, 2 each in the south, north and central regions. The CEMARCH initiative was developed to provide training for agricultural professionals and others involved in agriculture, and to train new individuals in agricultural practices. This training is especially important as a changing climate increases highly variable weather, forcing Haitian farmers to deal with both drought and severe storms, often in a single cropping season. Additionally, CEMARCH will work with the Haitian universities for BS and MS scholarship support for students, and improved laboratories, libraries and research facilities.

Fonctions

The TPSS will make regular visits and follow up to each CEMARCH partner facility and review CEMARCH activities at each facility, particularly at UNDH. They may also travel to work at other locations with whom the university collaborates, such as non-profit agricultural organizations or farmers cooperatives. They will provide technical support as needed and work with the research faculty and students at each university. They will provide guidance on research and extension programming, and be a resource for the selection of projects and training that best help farmers and other citizens in the area. The TPSS will prepare monthly reports that will be provided to the COP and PD that outlines the various programs and progress with the various activities. The overall role of the TPSS is to be an on-the-ground partner and representative of CEMARCH, being present frequently at the CEMARCH partners to provide guidance and help with the implementation of the projects, as needed.
