Job Summary
The Communications Officer has overall responsibility for CMMB’s communications. The Communications Officer will support CMMB’s internal and external communications strategy regarding awareness creation, develop, write and disseminate public health education and awareness-raising materials across a range of media (print, radio, social, etc.). S/he will also develop and coordinate responses to all inquiries from the public, the media, and MSPP.
Key Responsibilities
To succeed as a Communications Officer, the successful candidate should be able to think creatively and have excellent communication and interpersonal skills. The ideal candidate will have a relevant bachelor's degree with significant prior experience in a role with similar responsibilities to those described below.
• Coordinate with the PM to lead CMMB’s interactions with communities, local govt., and media to provide consistent communication/information on CMMB’s health treat response.
• Collaborate with management to develop and implement an effective communications strategy based on CMMB’s various target audiences.
• Write, edit, and distribute content, including publications, press releases, social media content, monthly and final reports, speeches, and other educational material (posters, fliers, information sheets) that communicates information on preventing the spread of diseases, including vaccinations.
• Establish and maintain effective relationships with journalists and maintain a media database.
• Respond to media inquiries, organize media broadcasts, and track the information disseminated so as to understand if it is reaching its target audience.
• Train correspondents to relay information in all geographies where CMMB works.
• Organize community meetings, focus groups and community education sessions jointly with field and site staff for sensitization.
• Serve as the main link between CMMB and MSPP Communications Department.
• Seek opportunities to involve all potential stakeholders in enhancing prevention and vaccination information and coordinate informational events as required.
• Maintain records of media coverage and collate analytics and metrics so as to improve outcomes.
Qualifications Requises
• Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, or related field.
• Successful experience leading communications work with a focus on medical issues and community-level activities.
• Minimum of three years' relevant experience and responsibility in a communications role.
• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.
• Professional level proficiency in Haitian Creole, French, and English.
• Demonstrated good time-management and organizational skills.
• Proven ability to solve problems in the field, working as a team and with limited resources.
• Demonstrated proactive and collaborative work style.
• Well-developed organizational skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively with Community Healthcare workers, community members, colleagues etc. both in-person and by telephone and / or non-visual Internet connections.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, content management systems, and social media platforms.
• Strong computer skills including high-level Excel proficiency.
• Knowledge and experience successfully using content development and publishing software (InDesign/Photoshop) to design, develop, and roll out communications campaigns.
