The goal of the Academic Department is to accomplish HELP’s mission through transformative learning experiences whereby students develop their professional skills and leadership competencies. We do this by facilitating curricular and extra-curricular activities that help improve English proficiency, capacities in information technologies, and the skills and desire to work for positive change in Haiti. While HELP’s English, IT, and Citizenship & Leadership (C&L) classes are independent programs, cross-collaboration is facilitated under the Academic Department umbrella.
Fonctions
The C&LI reports to HELP’s Academic Deputy Director to ensure effective design and delivery of Citizenship & Leadership courses, as well as extra-curricular programming.
Responsibilities include:
• Planning, teaching and evaluating HELP Citizenship & Leadership courses. These courses are taught online and/or in person. All course content/evaluations must be uploaded onto HELP’s online learning platform (Moodle) and database.
• Individual student support, when necessary. This may include virtual/ in-person meetings with students, developing Individual Learning Plans, and coaching and monitoring student community engagement.
• Communicating and reporting: monthly report, email communication, time sheet, meetings with Senior Citizenship & Leadership Instructor, Service-Learning Program Coordinator and Academic Director, contributing to reports for donors and/or marketing material.
• Extra-curricular activities, including planning and facilitating activities such as the Debate Club, guest speaker series (LEADx), service-learning project support, etc…
• Assist in planning and facilitating HELP Orientation activities (punctual, during Orientation period)
• Contribute to HELP’s personal production programming.
• Planning and facilitating workshops for HELP staff and external partners.
Qualifications Requises
Minimum Qualifications :
• Bachelor’s degree (in a related field)
• Teaching experience
• Excellent communication skills, flexibility, ability to work under high-pressure situations, ability to multi-task,
• Exceptional ability to learn quickly and integrate new processes,
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team,
• Proficiency in Microsoft tools and online learning platforms, like Moodle, Google Meet, Teams, etc.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to read, write, and speak Creole. English is an asset.
