The mission of the Haitian Education & Leadership Program (HELP) is to create, through merit- and needs-based university scholarships, a community of young professionals and leaders who will promote a more just society in Haiti.
The goal of HELP’s Academic Department is for all students to develop English proficiency, capacity in information technologies, as well as the skills and desire to work for positive change in Haiti. While HELP’s English, IT, and Citizenship & Leadership courses are taught as separate curricula, cross-curricular connections are an important part of course development.
Fonctions
The English Language Instructor (ELI) reports to HELP’s Senior English Instructor and works with other program staff to ensure the growth of English language proficiency at HELP. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Instruction, including: Planning, facilitation and evaluation for 8-10 online and/or face-to-face classes (weekly), office hours/tutoring. Staff classes are also facilitated punctually. (approximately 15 class hours/week and 10 planning & evaluation hours/ week).
• Reporting (weekly tracking charts, monthly report, contributing to reports for donors and/or marketing material. (approximately 5 hours/ week)
• Co-curricular responsibilities: Assisting with tutoring program responsibilities, co-facilitating standardized testing process (approximately 5 hours/ week)
• Extra-curricular responsibilities: English translation of staff reports, assisting with Saturday activities and In English Club activities (approximately 5 hours / week)
Qualifications Requises
Requirements:
1) Bachelor’s degree
2) Experience in English instruction (Two years, minimum)
3) Strong writing skills
4) Ability to adapt to foreign and possibly difficult environments and situations
5) Sense of initiative, ability to work independently and as part of a team
6) Fluency in spoken and written English. French and Creole are a plus.
7) Experience using the Moodle knowledge platform is an asset.

1. Every HELP student under ELI’s instruction increases their English language proficiency annually.
2. Co- and extra-curricular activities under ELI’s responsibility are organized according to the annual calendar.
3. Reports are complete and submitted on time.
