Introduction

The USAID Reforestation Project is a program funded by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) in Haiti and implemented by Chemonics International Inc. USAID Reforestation Project, based in Cap-Haitien, is designed to address environmental degradation and loss of tree cover in the North and North East departments of Haiti. The project will support interventions to:
• Reduce the threat of deforestation
• Improve resilience to economic and natural shocks
• Increase tree cover in targeted areas
• Improve environmental governance and coordination

The project will plant more than 5 million trees, convert 15,000 hectares of deforested land to agroforestry, and conserve more than 850 hectares of mangrove forest.


Fonctions

The Resiliency & Agribusiness Coordinator leads the component 2 of the Project “Improve Resilience to Economic and Natural Shocks” As a member of the Project technical coordination team, he/she contributes to the strategic planning, integration and monitoring of the various project components, as well as synergy and partnership with other projects, initiatives, organizations and institutions involved in the sector in the target area.


Qualifications Requises

The Resiliency & Agribusiness Coordinator will:
• Provide technical direction and develop the strategic plan for the "Improve resilience to economic and natural shocks" Project component, focusing on supporting economic sectors that encourage agroforestry and sylvo-pastoral production systems. Coordinate the activities of this component;
• Work closely with the project director, deputy director, other component leaders, and the monitoring, evaluation and learning specialist to ensure technical coordination and strategic coherence of the various project components, and apply the lessons learned for adaptive management;
• Take overall responsibility and leadership on the planning, implementation and monitoring of the "Improve resilience to economic and natural shocks" Project component. This entails the preparation and monitoring of Project annual work plans and budgets; quarterly and monthly implementation plans and targets, and the supervision of all Project component staff (long- and short-term);
• Lead the component based on the approved work plans, and ensure complementarities with other project components, and other relevant initiatives and activities. Maintain close coordination/linkages with all project partners, including government agencies, private sector, community organizations, and other stakeholders;
• Guide the development and/or adaptation of technical briefs and the establishment of demonstration plots, exchange visits and others to promote good agricultural practices and technological innovations to improve resilience to economic and natural shocks in the target areas;
• Develop strategic partnerships relevant regional and local partners, institutions and organizations;
• Ensure quality control for deliverables produced under this component, and facilitate data collection and analysis toward achieving quarterly and annual Project performance indicators;
• Ensure environmental compliance of all component activities, including sub-awards (grants and contracts) based on the approved environmental documents, especially the environmental mitigation and monitoring plan (EMMP) and the mission-wide pesticide evaluation report safer use action plan (PERSUAP), in close collaboration with the Project environmental compliance specialist;
• Work with the monitoring, evaluation and learning specialist, and the other members of the project technical leadership team to share lessons learned, establish channels for their regular dissemination, and adapt to these lessons;
• Accomplish other tasks as assigned by Project Director or designee.


Conditions particulières

• Have a degree in Agribusiness, Business/Agricultural Marketing, Market Research or
relevant field
• Have experience in project managing and coordinating people from a variety of
backgrounds, particularly related to agriculture development and/or food security
• Have excellent research, data collecting, and analytical skills
• Have excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Chichewa
• Must have proficiency in computers, email, Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint
• Have excellent time management and organizational skills; ability to prioritize and
execute.
• Must be self-motivated and have the ability to work and communicate well in a team
