Introduction

The organization is looking for a RESOURCE DEVELOPMENT AND COMMUNICATIONS OFFICER. This position is responsible for managing media, communication, and public relations initiatives with the goal of bringing broad and positive attention to Habitat for Humanity International’s Haiti efforts and its cause of eliminating substandard housing. The position is based in Port-au-Prince, Haiti.

The Communications and Resource Development Officer will develop content and program updates, including but not limited to social media, website and newsletters, and program collateral; support public relations activities; coordinate media requests; assist in cultivation of donors and donor reporting; and provide general communications support to the Habitat for Humanity Haiti team.


Fonctions

- Manage the development and execution of a communications and public relations plan that creates awareness of Habitat’s efforts in Haiti.
- Develop, oversee and maintain a strong social media presence for HFHI Haiti, including regular maintenance of accounts.
- Draft materials in English and French, including success stories, press releases, fact sheets, pamphlets, and other necessary content for various Habitat channels (website, social media).
- Accompany program staff on regular visits to field sites to collect photographs and success stories for use in communications materials.
- Manage local vendor relationships such as photographers, videographers and translators.
- Coordinate internally with other departments to ensure accurate communication and reporting of programmatic activities.
- Regularly update statistics, photos, and program information on donor-facing materials.
- Create donor-facing materials and collateral for the RD team to use as tools to cultivate and secure donors.
- Work with local media to promote the work of Habitat for Humanity Haiti.
- Support and work collaboratively with US headquarters and area office RD staff on donor communications that include reports, proposals, and other RD collateral as needed.
- Accompany donors and partners on field visits to Haiti as needed..


Qualifications Requises

*Bachelor Degree
*3-5 years of experience with fundraising/resource development/donor relations
*Fluency in English, French, and Creole required
*Strong writing skills for various audiences, including social media, success stories, and donor reports
*Strong attention to detail and organization
*Ability to work independently and with remote staff workers
*Excellent interpersonal and written/oral communication skills
*Commitment to fostering a collaborative work enviroment
*Experience working in developing country context or Haiti strongly preferred
*Grant writing skills preferred
*Familiar with media markets and outlets in Haiti preferred
*Ability and desire to represent HFHI as an ecumenical Christian ministry.


Conditions de travail

Office setting in post-disaster environment that may involve difficult and stressful conditions (unstable conditions, irregular travel conditions and transportation means, etc). The position involves up to 30% travel.
