The AREA project has built five weather stations located at different sites in the Feed the Future West region (four stations) and one in Les Cayes. Additionally, AREA trained a group of Haitian professions at the University of Florida in July and they built and programmed additional stations that need to be installed at agricultural research and education centers in Haiti. These stations are designed to transmit
data to Weather Underground from which users of weather data can download raw data files free of charge. However, AREA continues to troubleshoot the stations as the transmission of data to Weather Underground has been inconsistent. The stations are equipped to work under conditions including a failure of power or Wi-Fi.
