Background
Key to the sustainability and the exit strategy for the Climate Smart Solutions program is the ability for the Ministry of Agriculture’s Unité Hydrométéorologique (UHM) to provide accurate and up-to-date climate information that is useful to smallholder farmers. AREA’s Climate Smart Solutions program is leading an ongoing effort to recover, compile, quality check and disseminate historical data on Haiti’s climate. This work is done in partnership with UHM. AREA plans to finalize reviewing, collecting and providing quality control of the datasets and train Haitians to continue this work. AREA will encourage and support UHM to better manage and use available data to serve the agricultural sector by facilitating the integration of Climsoft into their operations. Climsoft is a free and open source data management system endorsed by the World Meteorological Organization, supported by the UK Meteorological services and successfully used in Africa. In this role, the data analyst and coordinator will facilitate a collaboration between UHM and Climsoft experts, help organize a capacity building workshop and provide technical support pre- and post-workshop, so that UHM can fully integrate Climsoft into their operations.

Main Responsibilities
The data analyst and coordinator will:
• Assist our partners in reviewing and providing quality control of the datasets and data products;
• Maintain existing relationships between AREA and its partners in the weather/climate sector in Haiti and abroad;
• Contribute to the lessons learned and recommendations for UHM and other partners in the climate sector;
• Contribute to AREA Climate Smart Solutions Program publications;
• Conduct any other activity relevant to and required by the project
Qualifications Requises
Minimum Qualifications
• MS in agriculture related discipline with demonstrated experience in compiling, analyzing and managing complex datasets ;
• Working knowledge of climate risk management in agriculture in the Haitian context
• Experience with research and technical writing
• Professional competency in French and English
