Introduction

ROLE PURPOSE:
SCI being leader in the field of children's rights in Haiti, its Advocacy Coordinator and Communication will have to lead the development of advocacy and communication strategies and plans. Which strategies and plans will support the implementation of the country program and ensure the promotion of the rights of the child.
SCOPE OF ROLE:
Reports to: PDQA Director
Staff reporting to this post:
Budget Responsibilities: No direct responsibilities but post has oversight of advocacy and communication budget lines in all the programs
Role Dimensions: The Coordinator works with PDQA members, project teams; Government, UN and other agencies working in the SCI’s intervention sectors (Education, Child protection, Child Governance, in Haiti.


Fonctions

Programme Support:
 Collaborate in the elaboration and implementation of strategies of Advocacy and communication of the Country Program
 Provide technical assistance to help position SC as the leading agency for children's rights in Haiti.
 Contribute to the implementation of the communication strategy in emergencies and national and international campaigns of SC, as well as lead the informational programs Child Link.
 Develop the impact reports of the advocacy and campaign actions requested by the region.
 Internally and externally, promote advocacy campaigns to obtain financial and technical resources for the success of the strategy.
 Coordinate the implementation of the Monitoring and Evaluation plan of the advocacy strategy and Campaign.
 Promote the creation and coordination of a campaign advisory committee to oversee the execution of the national advocacy and campaign strategy.
 Promote relationships with different key players (government, institutions, partners, community) to ensure the support and partnerships necessary for the success of the campaign.
 Design methodologies to promote the participation of children and adolescents as spokespersons of their rights in areas of political advocacy.
 Internally and externally, disseminate the reports, achievements and impact of the advocacy and campaign actions carried out.
 Join the Community advocacy and campaign of the regional office of SCI LAC
 Support the production, printing and reproduction of studies, brochures and information material about the work of SC and its partners.
Capacity Building:
 Identify learning and training opportunities for Save the Children staff and partners and work as a mentor and role model for less experienced staff and those with little or no advocacy and communication experience
Representation & Advocacy & Organisational Learning:
 Ensure that Save the Children's work is coordinated with efforts of other agencies and Government, and take a leadership role within Interagency Coordination forums, ensuring the specific needs of children are being addressed. This may involve taking the lead in coordination working groups.
 Take steps to document lessons learned for wider dissemination.
 In collaboration with senior programme staff, assist in advocacy activities that target decision-makers at all levels.
 In collaboration with SC Thematic coordinators, feed in learning, experiences and evidence to relevant global advocacy objectives.
 To identify opportunities and material to contribute to communications and media work, acting as the spokesperson of SC.
General:Comply with Save the Children policies and practice with respect to child protection, code of conduct, health and safety, equal opportunities and other relevant policies and procedures.
Others
 Represent Save the Children in relevant coordination/partnership meetings and in other fora.
 Carry on any other reasonable duty as may be assigned that is consistent with the nature of the job and level of responsibility.


Qualifications Requises

QUALIFICATIONS
Tertiary degree in communication and/or in a relevant subject or equivalent field experience in Advocacy and communication.
EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
Essential:
 Good level of English
 3 to 5 years substantial experience working with a humanitarian/ development organisation with a focus on children's rights.
 Good writing ability.
 Oral and written communication. (French- English)
 Team work.
 Creative (a) in terms of design ideas.
 Good relations with journalists and the media
 Strong representational skills
 Ability to work calmly under pressure in a rapidly changing context
 Ability to be adaptable and flexible
 Ability and willingness to travel regularly into the field
 Ability to analyse information, evaluate options and to think and plan strategically
 Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills
Desirable:
 Good knowledge and understanding of Child right based programming.
 Experience of working with Save the Children.

CHILD SAFEGUARDING:
Level 3: the role holder will have contact with children and/or young people either frequently (e.g. once a week or more) or intensively (e.g. four days in one month or more or overnight) because they work in country programs; or are visiting country programs; ore because they are responsible for implementing the police checking/vetting process staff.
