Introduction

Haïti is being transformed into a barrier-free and inclusive society where persons with disabilities have equal rights and opportunities and are empowered to actively participate in the sustainable development of their communities.

Objectives: To promote accessibility and a barrier-free inclusive society in Haiti particularly in Jérémie. Hence it is envisaged that:

- CBM together with relevant partners in Haïti actively promotes accessibility and universal design.
- CBM offers technical support to its partners and relevant stakeholders in (re) construction and rehabilitation efforts adhering to principles of accessibility and inclusion
- Accessibility is coherently embedded as a crosscutting issue in CBM- Haiti programmes and is a crucial working principle.


Fonctions

Implementation of accessibility criteria

- To review, advice and provide recommendations on CBM and its partners construction plans (architecture/site planning) following the principles of accessibility.
- To monitor and supervise the project construction sites lead by CARE-Haiti in order to ensure the implementation of the principles of accessibility and universal design
- To conduct accessibility audits on predetermined institutions together with DPOs and other trained (re)construction professionals and based on proven results; set priorities for accessibility adjustments

Lobby & Advocacy for Accessibility and Universal Design

- To support Accessibility Manager in raising awareness in regards to Universal accessibility among public leaders and authorities as well as among other international and local development organizations in in the different area of intervention of the project By providing technical inputs on accessibility principles and universal design.
- To work closely with the accessibility manager to promote inclusion of and advocate for the inclusion of accessibility criteria into the norms for public buildings.
- To contribute to a network of stakeholders involved in the continued decision making process of accessible (re)construction (IOs, I/NGOs, GOs, DPOs, Private/public sector, universities and others).
- To act as a liaison between CBM-Haiti, CARE-Haiti regarding accessibility issues on the field.
- To contribute to regular MEAL processes regarding CBM/ CCO Haiti accessibility projects.


Capacity Building

- To develop new and adapt existing training material on accessibility and universal design for the project context
- To collaborate with Senior accessibility manager to conduct training sessions and workshops on accessibility principles and universal design for DPOs, architects, Engineers and construction professionals and their students operating on the different sites of the projects
- To collaborate with the CBM rehabilitation teams to be able to train others to identify and address individual accessibility needs of beneficiaries.


Qualifications Requises

University degree in Civil Engineer, Construction certificate or any other related field with in-depth knowledge of accessibility
• At least 3 years’ experience in project management
• At least 3 years’ experience in site management
• Strong knowledge of Ms Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
• Able to work independently and take initiative on identified needs.
• Excellent communication skills, good written and spoken French and Creole
• Commitment to and understanding of CBM’s aims, values and principles.
• Conflict Management
