The U.S. Mission in Port-au-Prince is seeking eligible and qualified applicants for the position of Project Management Specialist (Engineer) in the USAID/HAITI Office of Infrastructure, Engineering and Energy (OIEE).
Fonctions
The incumbent serves as a Senior Engineer in the USAID Haïti Mission. This position is located in the Office of Infrastructure, Engineering and Energy (OIEE). With a planned budget of $525 million over the five-year U.S. Government (USG) Haïti Strategy period, the office manages large-scale infrastructure activities, advises Mission senior staff, and provides specialized guidance to other technical teams in the Mission. The portfolio of this office consists of four main components – shelter and settlements, health infrastructure, ports, and energy, all designated as high-priority programs. The USAID Mission in Haïti is currently seeking a qualified, experienced individual to assist the OIEE team to implement and manage its expansive portfolio and achieve results.
Qualifications Requises
Education
A four year degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from an accredited University is required.
Work Experience
A minimum of eight years of progressively responsible civil or structural engineering experience is required. Two years with the U.S. Government is desirable. Understanding of and experiences with directing “best practices” towards planning, design, and oversight of infrastructure projects.
Language
Level 4 (Fluent) Speaking/Reading/Writing of English is required. * This will be tested
Level 4 (Fluent) Speaking/Reading/Writing of French is required.
Level 4 (Fluent) Speaking/Reading/Writing of Creole is required.
Knowledge
Must have an expert knowledge of building and construction practices, and a comprehensive knowledge of both local and international building and construction codes. Desirable to have knowledge of USAID or other U.S. Government procedures relative to project funded civil engineering construction (planning, design, contracting and construction management). Must have knowledge of environmental management and mitigation.
