Introduction

Project HOPE is an international NGO of more than 900 engaged employees and hundreds of volunteers who work in more than 25 countries, responding to the world’s most pressing global health challenges. Throughout our 60-year legacy, Project HOPE has treated millions of patients and provided more than $3 billion worth of medicines to local health care organizations around the world. We have helped build hundreds of health programs from the ground up and responded to humanitarian crises worldwide.
Program Summary:
Project HOPE is proposing to implement a BHA-funded program in Haiti to support access to primary healthcare in response to the 7.4 earthquake of August 14, 2021. The program, focused in the Health and WASH sectors, will support Primary Healthcare Centers (PHC)s in targeted sites and their catchment areas, in addition to mobile medical units, WASH interventions and community health outreach activities. The initial program duration is anticipated to be 6 months, with possibility for extension as funding and program priorities allow.

Fonctions

The primary roles of the Community Health Workers are to monitor the health of people in their area, provide community education in their topic of specialty, link community members to health services at the clinic, collect and report data, support patients and community members in their community, and share information with Project HOPE and the Ministry of Health related to their community’s health.

1. A Community Health Worker will be a positive example in the community.
2. They encourage health-seeking behavior in the community through conversations, patient visits, and community talks.
3. Visits community members to:
• Share information in their technical area of specialty
• Share information related to the health of the community provided by Project HOPE and the Ministry of Health
• Share community information related to health with their Supervisors and the Ministry of Health
4. Accompany community members to the health facility to:
• Support the patient
• Connect the patient to the clinic and the clinic to the patient
5. Conduct follow-up visits with people who have been seen at the clinic to:
• Ensure that they go for follow up visits as necessary
• Ensure that they have support where they live if they need it
6. Maintains confidentiality about the patients and community members.
7. Collect required data and submit reports on a weekly basis.
8. Communicate regularly with their supervisor and meet with them as needed.
9. Carry out other duties assigned.





Qualifications réquises

• WASH and Maternal & Child Health (MCH) Technical background
• College Degree in Public Health or related field, or 5 years of experience in a similar role
• Experience with Community Health Worker programs required
• Previous experience in a recovery setting and/or in a low resource setting
• Full fluency in French, Creole or Spanish


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Master’s Degree preferred
• A technical background in Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene and/or Non-Communicable Diseases strongly preferred
• Proficiency in English preferred
