Summary
The Communication Coordinator is a key member of the Beyond Borders/Depase Fwontyè yo’ communication and fundraising team, in Haiti. Working closely with staff across the organization, they will develop and carry out high-quality, effective, and timely communications. The Coordinator is responsible for the collection, organization, and management of communication elements that will build the profile of Beyond Borders/Depase Fwontyè yo among target audiences both inside and outside of Haiti, and allow the organization to communicate the work of Beyond Borders/Depase Fwontyè yo in a compelling and engaging manner.

The role requires a broad range of professional communications skills and experience including strong skills in interviewing, writing, editing, media relations, and content development. The right candidate will have the personal qualities necessary to develop strong relationships, engage program staff and participants in intentional communication, travel within the country of Haiti, and support the development of new communication approaches and tools.

Reporting to the Creative Director, the Communications Coordinator will work closely with the Program Coordinators in Haiti and the United States as well as communication focal points in each program staff to effectively identify, create, and support the production of clear and professional informational products that are available to donors and Beyond Borders/Depase Fwontyè yo stakeholders.

Responsibilities:
? Collect high-quality stories of transformation from across Beyond Borders/Depase Fwontyè yo programs for the primary purposes of fundraising, donor engagement, and reporting
? Work with key program focal points to collect program images, videos, interviews, testimonies etc. and ensure they are properly organized in a centralized photo data bank
? Produce professional media and communications materials for various audiences, including North America-based audiences
? Manage contracts with contracted photographers, videographers, and others to ensure the timely collection of quality assets
? Maintain a calendar of key program events/training/activities and work with colleagues across the organization to gather appropriate donor-facing content from these activities
? Work together with the N. American-based communications team in the development and implementation of key strategies for success
? Support with the development of news-worthy messages, handling press inquiries, interview requests, and providing responses to requests from media
? Other duties as assigned

Qualifications & Requirements
? Passionate about social justice and a commitment to Beyond Borders/Depase Fwontyè yo’s mission and vision, which can be found here
? University degree in Communication, Journalism and related discipline
? 3+ years prior experience in a communications role, preferably with a national and/or international organization
? Understanding of the social movements and social justice issues that are a priority for Beyond Borders/Depase Fwontyè yo
? Empathetic, engaging, strong communicator with the ability to make deep connections with program participants, partners, and staff
? Solid interviewing skills with the ability to gather meaningful beneficiary testimony and an exceptional ability to communicate powerful stories of transformation, highlighting Beyond Borders/Depase Fwontyè yo’s role as well as the unique perspective of those we serve.
? Possess exceptional writing skills (in English and Creole) and be able to compose engaging and accurate content
? Superior time management skills and the ability to juggle multiple projects simultaneously
? Resourceful and takes initiative with minimal supervision/direction, working well independently and/or in collaboration with a team
? Understanding of communications and public relations best practices
? Ability to think strategically and critically
? Proficiency with various social media platforms and demonstrated understanding of ethical use and best practices.
? Available to travel regularly within Haiti to program areas (Port-au-Prince, Lagonav Island, and Jacmel)
? Fluent in English and Haitian Creole; French an asset
? Photography experience, an asset
? Proficiency with tools including Adobe In-Design and/or equivalent/relevant software, Microsoft Office tools, and Google+ and familiarity with advanced Smartphones, a plus

From Monday to Friday, with possibility to work on Saturday, 8ham to 4hpm.
