Associate, Community Health pour Clinton Health Access Initiative | JobPaw.com
Introduction

CHAI is seeking an Associate to join the CHAI malaria program to support and strengthen CHW networks within Hispaniola and Mesoamerica. This individual will grow the CHAI malaria team CHW portfolio, and contribute to implementing a broader, organization-wide CHW strategy.

Although globally there is heavy reliance on CHWs to deliver care and conduct disease surveillance, management, coordination, accountability, and uptake of best practices within these systems remain poor. CHAI malaria sees opportunities to improve CHW networks in key ways that are both short- and long-term: to position them for greater impact in extension of malaria case management and surveillance, and then solidify them as crosscutting “leave behind” systems within a country’s health infrastructure.

In elimination countries (such as the Dominican Republic, Guatemala, Honduras and Panama), the Community Health Associate will support countries to explore potential avenues for transition of vertical CHW networks or institutionalization of community-based surveillance within integrated models of community-based service delivery. In higher endemic settings (such as Haiti) where malaria continues to take a substantial toll on vulnerable populations, the Community Health Associate will help to refine existing networks or advocate for the establishment of community-based systems where appropriate. Support to existing programming will require both independent research and synthesis of learnings and in-person collaboration.

In addition to supporting existing CHW program engagements, the Associate will work closely with colleagues to grow the team’s CHW portfolio. This will require generation of evidence (documenting and disseminating experience across regions), research on new grant opportunities, and engagement with regional and country teams to identify context specific opportunities. The candidate must have excellent communications skills and cultural sensitivity, as s/he will be working closely with global and country partners. The successful Associate will have strong organizational and project management skills, and will be capable of conducting rapid quantitative analysis and communicating such analysis on a regular basis in a clear and concise manner to colleagues and partners. The successful candidate will be able to function efficiently in a semi-independent setting, and thus will be a self-motivated individual capable of managing multiple tasks at once and making sound independent decisions regarding data analysis. CHAI places great value on relevant personal qualities including resourcefulness, tenacity, independence, patience, humility, and strong work ethic.

This role is based in Hispaniola (Haiti), with frequent travel (up to 50%) in Hispaniola and Mesoamerica.

This is an unaccompanied post. Dependents, including spouses, may not relocate with the accepted candidate.
