About Lakou Kajou
Lakou Kajou is an educational video series for Haitian children and families. In Lakou Kajou animated six-year-old twins Lili and Tilou have adventures in and around their neighborhood that help children develop important skills in math, science, literacy, problem solving and more. The series, which is in Haitian Creole, is developed by a team of Haitian educators, artists, animators, and film professionals.

Lakou Kajou is a joint production of InnovEd (an educational institute at the Université Quisqueya), Blue Butterfly Collaborative (a non-profit organization based in the United States) and Muska Group (a video production company based in Port-au-Prince). The program is supported by the W.K. Kellogg Foundation, FOKAL and individual donors. Lakou Kajou’s offices are at Université Quisqueya.

Position Overview
The Lakou Kajou project coordinator provides overall leadership and supervision for Lakou Kajou, an educational media project housed at InnovEd at the Université Quisqueya, in partnership with Blue Butterfly Collaborative. The Lakou Kajou Coordinator oversees the day-to-day functions of the Lakou Kajou Project Office, including setting priorities, supervising staff and managing budgets.



Fonctions

· Provide insight and guidance to Blue Butterfly Collaborative staff regarding the overall strategy and implementation of the Lakou Kajou project. Assist Blue Butterfly Collaborative with the development and execution of the project workplan.
· Act as the lead educator on the Lakou Kajou project, ensuring that program content reflects the project’s curricular objectives. Review all Lakou Kajou program content and help production team understand the programs’ educational goals and objectives by providing feedback regarding educational value and cultural relevance.
· Interface with various internal departments at InnovEd-UniQ and other Université Quisqueya departments to ensure breadth and depth of collaboration.
· Develop and maintain relationships with local project stakeholders including advisors, vendors, government officials, community partners, and funders.
· Supervise and manage Lakou Kajou staff, including project manager, communications & social media manager, community relations manager and research coordinator.
· Manage the project budget including reporting expenses to Blue Butterfly’s fiscal sponsor TSNE MissionWorks, tracking cash flow, and liaising as necessary with UniQ administration.
· Participate in and provide leadership for regular meetings of project team, which includes Lakou Kajou staff and Blue Butterfly Collaborative staff.
· Lead meetings with advisors, donors, and other partners.
· Serve as an ambassador for Lakou Kajou at conferences, workshops, community events, meetings with media, and other settings
· In conjunction with Blue Butterfly Collaborative, fundraise through grant writing for program development. Assist with reporting to project funders.
· Participate in other activities of InnovEd as appropriate.


Qualifications réquises

Bachelor’s degree in education or child development. Master’s or doctorate preferred. ?
At least five years in a similar position of leadership. ?
Strong organizational proficiency, including the ability to set priorities, manage multiple tasks with different deadlines, organize time effectively, conduct research and identify resources for projects. ?
A collaborative, independent problem solver who can take initiative, set priorities and maximize resources. ?

Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Fluency in French and Kreyol. Written and spoken proficiency in English. ?
